The primary program is designed to optimally support the developmental needs and goals of children 2½–6 years old. The children come together with a certified Montessori teacher and assistants (with a maximum ratio of 1:10) in a community that fosters independence, respect, and joyful, active learning. The carefully prepared environment is designed to educate the whole child—emotional, social, cognitive, and physical.

The classroom is organized into specific Montessori curriculum areas—practical life, sensorial, arts. Based on individualized observation, the teacher is able to guide each child in response to his learning style, interest, and need. The child-centered approach to teaching is a hallmark of an authentic Montessori education. The results are children who are curious, self-confident, problem solvers, and critical thinkers. In an atmosphere that emphasizes respect, children learn to value individual differences and actively engage in caring, supportive relationships with friends and teachers.
For the optimum benefit for the child, this program is from 8:30–12:00 five days per week.
