The Kindergarten, or extended day as it is traditionally named, is our full day program that offers an exciting and appropriately challenging opportunity, specifically designed to meet the changing needs of your 5 or 6-year-old kindergarten student. After spending the morning in the multi-aged primary program, these children have the opportunity, after lunch, for an additional work period in the classroom. Five year olds are interested in and ready to explore in greater depth, advanced lessons in language (reading and writing), math, and the cultural subjects of science and geography. As they receive daily individualized and small group lessons in a true differentiated model that addresses the needs of the whole child, they are able to learn in their own way and at their own pace, allowing for maximum achievement and motivation. Not only do their academic skills increase dramatically, but they continue to grow social skills, leadership abilities and the confident self-esteem that can last a lifetime.
This program is from 8:30–3:30 daily and in addition to a rigorous but fun academic program, we provide daily specials such as yoga, physical education, art, Spanish, and music. It is strongly recommended that children participate in this program for the full five days, however, a three consecutive day option is offered, as well.
